Erron in a Relationship
How they ask their so out on a date:
Erron doesn’t ever outright ask his so out. He pulls a Rain and asks if they’ll come with him for awhile. Awhile becomes nearly a whole evening, walking around, visiting a tavern for drinks, maybe grabbing something to eat. Afterwards the so smirks at him. “Erron, did you just take me out on a date?” “Would it bother you if I did?” “Not at all.”
How they propose marriage to their so:
I already did this before but fuck it, I’ll do it again. Erron never saw himself as the married type. He didn’t ever think he’d want to settle down. I like to think that in his own time period in Texas, he was constantly being pressured into marrying and having children by his parents, and as such he was just really put off by it. But he looks at it his so, and he’s amazed by how much he wants them to be his, and more so by how much he wants to be theirs. Only theirs. Erron has rings made and presents one to his so. “How ‘bout we make this partnership a long term one, darling?”
How they want to be proposed to and what their reaction is:
Erron never really thought about it. I see him as secretly being a huge romantic, but while I think he appreciates huge gestures of love (when he sees them between other people I mean), he really wouldn’t like them for himself. I think he’d get too flustered and nervous and would turn away from his so, because it’s too much too sudden and he doesn’t know how to react. So a more simple proposal is needed. I love to think of him and his so sitting on a log by a campfire. There’s nothing but the chirp of crickets and the crackling of the fire to hear. But the silence between them is a comfortable one, just the two of them enjoying each others company. Eventually the so reaches out to hold his hand, and he makes a happy hum because he loves holding his so’s hand, only to realize they’ve pressed something round and smooth in his hand. He looks, and it’s a plain silver ring. “…So, how about it?” the so asks, “You wanna get hitched.. to me?” Erron is at a loss for words. He can only slip the ring onto his finger and nod slowly.
If they want kids, and how they’d be as parents:
Despite many people’s belief, I think Erron would be a very good father. I headcanon that he was the oldest of his siblings, and as such was expected to help look after the younger ones while his parents tended to the ranch. So he knows how to take care of babies and small children. He’s very nurturing, very physically affectionate with them. I could see him picking up his child and carrying them with him while he went about his business. But I don’t see him as coddling. No. He knows how to discipline his kids, he knows exactly when and how to get them to stand on their own two feet and do things for themselves. But he’s always there should they need him for support or advice. As for if he wants kids? Again, he never thought about it. But he’d appreciate having a talk about it with his so first.
What they’d name their kids:
I could see Erron using Colonial American names because those are the ones he grew up with, remembers better. And the names have to be more than just “pretty sounding,” he wants his child to have a name that means something, to either himself, to his so, or to the child itself.
What they’re like after their first night together:
It’s been a long while since Erron woke up in bed next to somebody, naked. But he’s not complaining. He traces a hand down his so’s side and presses sleepy kisses to their cheek and shoulder. He’d love to stay in bed with them all day if he could, but there’s things to be done. So he heaves himself out of bed, albeit rather slowly, gets himself dressed before heading off in search of breakfast for them.
